Keous understands that as a business member and leader within both local and national communities we must act responsibly in order to strengthen and maintain the foundation on which our organization is built upon. As a community at large, Canadians are faced with several challenges that can negatively impact the quality of life for any one of us. Keous is committed to addressing social issues and contributing its resources towards the benefit of these communities.
Perram House
Perram House is a palliative care hospice located in Toronto. The hospice strives to provide high quality, accessible, compassionate, client-centered end of life care to all who require it: those who are no longer able to cope on their own and live independently; those who should no longer be living on their own without family or caregiver support or those who may no longer have a place to live should they not be able to continue to work and support themselves.
As Perram House moves into the next year, the future of the hospice has never been brighter. The hospice enjoys the stability of a long-term lease, a fully renovated and customized facility, which includes off street parking and a shaded garden area. As an organization, the hospice has successful established relationships with all industry associations; income from fundraising activities has increased and stabilized; internal office procedures have been reviewed and upgraded. Our volunteer program has an active training agenda and the overall program has earned preeminence in the community. The hiring of medical and nursing staff with expertise in palliative care has brought the hospice into an unprecedented realm of excellence
Environmental Initiatives
While Keous has conducted environmentally friendly practices in the past we have recently increased our emphasis across the organization to include sustainability as a business practice. In reducing our carbon footprint, Keous is taking part in ensuring a healthy future for our planet and for our children. By constantly learning more and adopting green practices Keous is finding new ways to create a positive impact in our own space and with the world at large. Keous's Sustainability Plan incorporates:
- The application of the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle in all processes
- The promotion of environmental responsibility among our employees
- A constant improvement in our environmental performance
- The communication of Keous’s environmental policy and practices
- Striving to ensure that suppliers agree to comply with environmental regulations
Keous prides itself on redefining the contract process into a paperless process wherever possible. It has been the leader in electronic timesheets, contract, and requisition approval. This helps to reduce our ecological impact and allows our clients to feel proud about reducing theirs. We have identified challenges in our workspace in the areas of waste management and energy conservation. However, pursuing continuous improvement in our environmental performance is a must for Keous.
